I joined the “Plăieșii” ensemble in 2012. It was my passion for traditional folk song that brought me here, and I continue to stay because of the rich and diverse repertoire. Our ensemble stands out from others through attitude, discipline, hard work, character, and talent. “La omul care mi-i drag” was the first song Plăieșii introduced me to. Today, one of the most beloved songs is “Frunzuleană de chirău,” as it reflects our heritage as a people.
I grew up at the edge of the forests, having a special childhood marked by these wonderful landscapes, which made patriotic songs resonate deeply with my beliefs.
Mr. Nicolae Gribincea taught us to be disciplined, to value quality, and to have a respectful attitude toward people. He is also the one who always brings us unique folk songs that touch the listener’s soul. To become a member of the “Plăieșii” ethnographic folk ensemble, you must first be talented, receptive, diligent, obedient, and have a pleasant appearance. For a Plăieș, the traditional costume is also very important as it represents the culture and originality of a people.
I am happy that people greatly appreciate what we bring to their ears, and of course, we are always surrounded by wonderful people who love what we do, which makes us stronger and helps us maintain our professionalism as an ensemble.
Our audience is generous — people who love us and whom we love in return. We invite everyone to our performances because we have a special repertoire, covering various themes while preserving authenticity, singing with love and dedication for our wonderful audience.
At “Plăieșii,” I found stability, authenticity, tradition, love, and hard work. “Sus pe malul Nistrului” was the song that greeted me when I joined the group and remains my favorite. I grew to love it because I felt it close to my heart.
