I joined the Ethnofolkloric Ensemble “Plăieșii” in the summer of 2019, and the ensemble’s repertoire and creativity continue to motivate me to stay with them to this day.
From Mr. Nicolae Gribincea, I have learned almost everything related to artistic activity, and even more—I discovered some specific skills necessary for a performer. He taught us that the feeling of a song and the way you convey it take precedence on stage. On stage, you must vibrate, give yourself completely to the audience, and keep in mind that every dance or song has its own character that must be preserved.
“Plăieșii” means discipline, love for folklore, simplicity, openness to new things, and interest in creativity. I have learned to wear the traditional costume with dignity—it is extremely valuable and must be preserved and promoted.
Folkloric expeditions serve to complete and expand the ensemble’s repertoire by gathering information directly from primary sources.
Our audience, who attends our shows, always has the opportunity to see something both new and old, because the ensemble has a unique style of interpretation that everyone should experience at least once in their lifetime.
Our audience is one that values folklore, and we deeply appreciate that. Many times I have felt that thanks to our songs, I manage to gather good people around me. For us, “Plăieșii,” the tradition of Romanian folk song and dance is characteristic—heritage elements that we lovingly promote.
Our repertoire is very varied, but the song “Rugăciune” (“Prayer”) is one that, in my view, conveys a multitude of emotions and brings complete peace to our souls.
